Duddley is Great

Today was one of my favorite days of the year, Egg Coloring Day. I know it isn't really a holiday but it should be. This year I bought three egg coloring kits. Two kits were basics so I (I mean we) could have lots of colors to choose from, and one new type that was shimmery paint that you squish on the egg in a "special" bag. The shimmery paint was a first this year and I have to say that it was an okay buy. We did not get the look of what was on the box but it was an overall interesting technique to slow us down and enjoy the coloring. The shimmery-ness was nice too. One other first this year was I passed the camera off to my husband. This way I could get some new shots, because I take pictures of Egg Coloring Day every year and they get a bit redundant, and I could color just as many eggs as the kids. I know I am selfish.

New Caribou White Chocolate Norhtern Lite Mocha

Today I received an e-mail from the Caribou "Twins win! You win" campaign for a $2 Northern Lite Mocha. Since it was such a glum day today and spring is taking her own sweet time to arrive, I thought that today would be a good day for a coffee eventhough today was not my regular coffee day. I try to limit my coffee purchases to once a week and I had already tried the dark chocolate version of this drink on Monday. Circumstances as they were, I went with the white chocolate today. I have to say the Dark was much better; although I didn't realize that it automatically came with fat free whipped cream. I am not a fan of the texture of whipped cream with my coffee. Anyway today I ordered the White Chocolate Northern Lite Mocha and confusing the barista I ordered the whip cream on the side for my son to eat. The barista was like, "You mean you don't want the Fat free whip cream on your drink?"
"Right, I want it on the side."
"So you want it in like another cup?"
"Yes, on the side."
"Ok," he said and then went to tell the other barista exactly what on the side meant. I hope that he was new, and when he had gone out to eat his entire family always ordered food exactly the way it was written in the menu.
My son was ok with the whip at first, but he said that after a couple of bites it tasted funny. He didn't finish it.
I enjoyed my beverage, but next time I will get a dark chocolate. Yum.

Sometimes I wonder about having children. The act of parenting a fifth grader seems so disconnected from parenting the baby. Here I am sitting with my fifth grader making him comlete his homework, making him write down all of the assignments that are due in the calendar that he has with him at school so that he can keep up with his homework, double checking for the third time if he has finally turned in homework that was due last week. When he was a baby all I had to do was hold him and feed him. I guess what I am saying is that this just seems like so much more work than I thought.

Firsts

There are firsts for everything. Tonight I started a blog so that I could enter a page in a contest. Both firsts for me. I also played a video game with my husband and our son, another first. Back to the page that is the most important part of the blog for tonight although I am sure that this blogging thing will start to take off and it will become one more part of my normallife which is filled with non-first events.
This is my page that I am entering in a contest on Pagemaps.com. I had it completed over a week ago and remembered tonight that tonight was the deadline for submissions. I am a terrible procrastinator. Maybe I will blog about that another night. I don't even think that Pagemaps is judgeing the pages they are most likely just drawing names but this is kind of exciting and I hope that I win...I really want those red letters. I would love for this blogging thing to take off in my life. I think it is a great way to let off steam and express myself; not to mention, none of you know me so I can be completely honest, or completely crazy and you would have absolutly no idea. Oh and run on sentences, why not they really are how we speak anyway. How very exciting.
Have a good evening.
